'Khoka' – A horror film in 7 minutes

Although director Nuhash Humayun has a lot of accolades in his young career, one of the most unexpected ones is to have turned music director Pritom Hasan into a complete actor. Even though duo's extremely successful '700 Taka' indicated a presence of chemistry between the two, 'Khoka', released under the banner of Gaanchill Music, and is nothing short of a chemical explosion.

In the star-studded video containing the likes of Ferdous Wahid, Siam Ahmed and Safa Kabir, Pritom outshines everyone with his eerie portrayal of a boy, who comes back to life as a zombie after an accident. Pritom's signature groove is omnipresent, but welcome is the addition of industry legend Ferdous Wahid's verses as the 'grim reaper', which has already grown on the urban masses.

In essence, Khoka is a love story gone wrong in the worst way possible. There is charm amidst the horror, as Pritom can arguably be in line for being the 'most adorable zombie' award any time soon. Nuhash, as the director, leaves no stone unturned in making the music video a genuinely fun experience. World class props were used during the shoot, which added to the atmosphere drastically. There are easter eggs around every nook and cranny, none of which I will spoil for you. Siam Ahmed and Safa Kabir carry themselves like the stars that they truly are, and genuinely seem like they are enjoying their role in Khoka.

All in all, Khoka is an impressive feat, a charming horror story put forth within 7 minutes for a light watch. If the cinematic and musical excellence can't draw you, 'Gojamil' being permanently included in Bangladesh's urban vocabulary just might.
