Khaleda’s lawyers may move for HC bail
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s lawyers may move a bail petition before the High Court this week in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.
If they can secure bail in this case, they will move the Supreme Court for bail in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case, her lawyers told The Daily Star.
“Now we are working on Zia Charitable Trust case. We will move a bail petition before the High Court at the earliest,” said Kayser Kamal, a lawyer for Khaleda.
“Then we will take necessary legal steps before the Appellate Division for her bail in Zia Orphanage Trust case,” he said this evening.
Meanwhile, Anti-Corruption Commission’s lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan told The Daily Star they are prepared to fight against the bail petition.
Khaleda is serving a seven-year term after conviction in Zia Charitable Trust case. In the Zia Orphanage case, she is serving a 10-year sentence.
