Bangladeshi man killed in South Africa

A Bangladeshi man was shot dead by unidentified assailants in South Africa recently.

deceased Firoz Miah alias Shimul, 30, son of Humayun Kabir in Mirzapur, was brought back home and buried today, our local correspondent reports.

Mirzapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge AKM Mizanul Haque quoted family members to tell The Daily Star that Shimul was a cosmetics trader in Johannesburg.

“He was doing business in South Africa for the last 10 years. Criminals shot Shimul and snatched away Tk 6 lakh from him on April 23,” he said.

Shimul was buried at the graveyard of the village after a namaj-e-janaja at the village at around 10:00am this morning, he added.
