Former Sonagazi Police Station officer-in-charge Moazzem Hossain has been found involved in the leak of Nusrat Jahan Rafi’s interrogation video on social media.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), the agency now probing the murder case of Nusrat, found out that the former OC video-taped the interrogation of Nusrat.

“He (Moazzem) recorded the video and shared it with someone who might have leaked it on social media,” Banaj Kumar Majumder, chief of PBI, told The Daily Star.

He has already approved the police report, including these findings, prepared for submission before a cyber tribunal in connection to a lawsuit filed against Moazzem.

Supreme Court Lawyer Syed Sayedul Haque Suman sued former OC Moazzem on April 15 under the Digital Security Act, charging him of recording Nusrat without her consent and spreading the video footage on social media.

The video shows former OC Moazzem asking Nusrat several “defamatory and objectionable” questions one after another. The complainant said that “such an irresponsible government official should be brought under trial”.

The complainant appealed to the court to issue an arrest warrant against the OC for his alleged involvement with recording Nusrat's statement and spreading it on social media.

On April 10, the OC was withdrawn as Nusrat family's alleged that they were not getting his full cooperation. On May 8, Moazzem was suspended over the murder of madrasa student Nusrat in Feni and was attached to the office of DIG (Rangpur Range).

Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa in Sonagazi upazila of Feni, was set ablaze on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against the madrasa principal Siraj Ud Doula for sexually harassing her on March 27.

After fighting for her life for five days, Nusrat died on April 10.
