Mong Mong Sho’s ‘The Songs of Fisherman’ concludes in Kunming
Talented Bangladeshi artist Mong Mong Sho loves to depict the life and livelihood of the fishermen living in the coastal areas of Bangladesh. Hailing from Cox’s Bazar, the artist studied at the Institute of Fine Arts, Chittagong University. In 2012, he received a scholarship from Yunnan Provincial Government to study Fine Art in Kunming, China.
A solo exhibition of Mong Mong Sho titled, The Songs of Fisherman was held at Yunnan Arts University in Kunming from May 21 to May 25. The artworks focused on the daily life of fishermen in Bangladesh’s seaports.
Chen Liu, a teacher of Yunnan Arts University, spoke highly of the exhibition while inaugurating the show.
He said that Mong Mong Sho listened to his inner heart and made efforts to record the characteristics of the place where he was born and raised.
In fact, The Songs of Fisherman was inspired by the lifestyle and tales of the struggles of the native fishermen, who live near the seaport in Bangladesh. Mong Mong Sho used the paintings to tell stories of one of the marginalised communities of the society. His childhood nostalgia too, has a lasting impression on his works.
At present, he is a postgraduate majoring in the craft of watercolour, at Yunnan Arts University. He has participated in many international art exhibitions in China and Bangladesh. His works are well received all over the world.
