PHIS hosts PYP and MYP Exhibition

The end of term was eventful for all Pledge Harbor International School (PHIS) students, particularly Grade 5 PYP and Grade 10 MYP students. Grades 5 and 10 presented their "Personal Project", which is a vital part of both the Primary Years Programme and the Middle Years Programme. This is the final piece of work they produce before moving on to the next phase of their IB academic careers.

At Pledge Harbor, the concept of "positive education" is nurtured. Projects such as these instil an optimistic mindset among growing students.

The PYP students demonstrated attributes of the IB Learner Profile through their exhibition, which was centralised around the big idea: water. Students looked into the global goals, conservation, preservation and distribution of water and hydropower very closely. The displays included miniature prototype working models that the students used to show their perspectives and share their knowledge.

The Grade 10 MYP students presented a diverse range of topics including the effect of chemical-infused fruits on health, the impact of passive smoking, dengue awareness, designing an outer ring road for Dhaka and more. The students addressing the needs in their community exemplify the responsible global citizens that they have grown into. Being an IB World School, Pledge Harbor cultivates these attitudes and knowledge in students that enable caring and facilitate students to take action towards creating a better world.

Furthermore all MYP students from Grades 6-10 presented a topic from each subject of their curriculum. There were four performances: three plays and a Bangla song and dance show. The students were engaged all day, moving from one presentation to their next and excelling in each one.

The mission of the IB is to "nurture a culture that is creative, alert and flexible." The swiftness with which the students stepped into different roles throughout the day signifies that Pledge Harbor has successfully created such an environment for their students.
