Indian Navy aircraft’s fuel tank falls during take off
The fuel tank of a MIG fighter aircraft of the Indian Navy fell down on the main runway at Goa airport while it was taking off today, leading to temporary closure to air traffic at the airport, a Navy spokesman said.
A portion of the runway at the airport caught fire after the tank of a MiG-29K aircraft fell down from the jet while it was taking off, Navy spokesperson Capt DK Sharma said.
He said the airport has been closed for a few hours following the incident that took place around 2:00pm Indian time, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
The airport in Goa, a popular tourist resort on the coast of the Arabian Sea, is used by both civilian and military aircraft.
"All efforts are on to resume flight services at the airport as soon as possible," Sharma added.
