Mystery shrouds death of Natore AL leader’s wife
The wife of a local Awami League leader, who suffered burn injuries early on Sunday in Natore’s Baraigram upazila, has lost the battle for life while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Kamrunnahar Shelly, 45, the third wife of Abdur Razzak, general secretary of AL’s Joari Union unit, succumbed to her injuries on Friday morning, our Natore correspondent reports.
Shelly was also a member of Baraigram upazila unit of the ruling party.
The victim’s in-laws primarily claimed Shelly sustained burn injuries in a cylinder blast, said Dilip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Baraigram Police Station.
However, a police team did not find the evidence of any cylinder blast visiting the spot, and instead recovered burnt clothes soaked with kerosene from the scene, said the OC.
The body has been sent for an autopsy, the police official said adding that they were yet to receive any complaint from the victim’s family.
Meanwhile, Abdur Razzak told reporters that they had been living at Shelly’s paternal house since they got married a year ago.
He said Shelly suffered burns after a gas cylinder went off while she was at the kitchen in the early hours of Sunday.
She was primarily taken to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital, he added.
