‘Steps to be taken for well-being of underprivileged children’

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam today said that they would take steps immediately to ensure the development of slums in the capital and physical and mental health of the children living there.

“We will be more attentive to develop the slums. All possible steps will be undertaken to flourish the mental and physical well-being of the children living there,” Atiqul said.

While addressing an Eid Festival organised for underprivileged children at Ershad School of Kuril Adarsha Nagar in the city this afternoon, the DNCC mayor also called upon the affluent section of the society to stay beside the efforts of the city corporation.

At the festival, various sports events like football, cricket and cultural event were arranged for the deprived children while the winners were given prizes.

Atiqul actively participated in different events with the children.

The participation of the mayor increased the joy of the underprivileged children and adolescents by many folds.

Acting DNCC Chief Executive Officer Rabindra Sree Barua and ward councillors Mofizur Rahman and Afsar Uddin Khan, among others, were present at the function.
