Tax office in every upazila

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today said tax offices will be set up in every upazila of the country.

"Our main principle is to collect more income tax by broadening the tax base without increasing the tax rate. For this purpose, we have taken an initiative to bring new taxpayers under the tax net instead of burdening the existing taxpayers with more tax," the minister said in his budget speech for fiscal 2019-20.

With this expansion programme, tax offices will be set up in every upazila in Bangladesh, the minister said, adding that at the field level the number of Taxes Zones will be increased to 63 from existing 31.
