There is enough money in banks: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said that there is enough money in the banks.
While giving a closing speech before the passage of the supplementary budget for 2018-19 fiscal in the parliament, Hasina also said that the money in the banks was not for looting.
Hasina, the leader of parliament, was talking on behalf of ailing finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
She made the comments when opposition on Sunday came down heavily on the government for its failure to check money laundering, soaring loan defaults, and black money. They also alleged that the banking sector suffering a lot.
“Many people are saying that there is no money in banks. Why there should be no money? Of course, there is money in banks,” Hasina said. “But that money is not for looting."
“We know the people who have looted banks in the past. Many have looted a lot of money from banks and some of them are in prison on allegations of corruption,” Hasina told the House.
