7 injury marks found in Rifat’s body: Doctors say after autopsy

A total of seven injury marks including three gashes were found on the body of Rifat Sharif, who was brutally killed in front of his wife in the broad daylight yesterday, the autopsy report revealed today.

The three gashes were found in head, neck and chest of the victim while four other injury marks were found in other parts of the body, said Jamil Hossain, head of the three-member autopsy team of Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital.

The victim has died due to excessive bleeding with injuries inflicted by sharp weapons, Jamil Hossain said citing the autopsy report that was conducted at the SBMCH around 11:30am.

Yesterday, criminals attacked Rifat, 25, with sharp weapons in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College while his wife was desperately trying to save him.

The entire incident, which was captured possibly on a mobile phone, shows the attack on the youth in Barguna town in front of Barguna Government College around 10:30am yesterday, where Rifat went to drop-off his wife.

Footage of the incident went viral on social media yesterday.

Immediately after the attack, locals had taken Rifat to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH).  Later, he was pronounced dead.

Rifat was the only son of Abdul Halim of Boro Lobongola village in Burirchar union under Barguna Sadar upazila.
