THE PROMISED LAND
The USA holds a special place in my heart. I have never been there, but like everyone else I know, I have family there. But that’s not it, it’s the fact that an overwhelming majority of the entertainment I consume originates there. It’s the fact that I know an unnecessarily large amount of trivia on the history and different states in America; that my grasp on their national issues is similar if not better than the issues my own country faces. I am not proud of any of this, it’s just that my YouTube subscriptions have driven me to this point and I’m not much inclined to change that because I like my mealtime entertainment to be entertaining.
I regularly have detailed conversations with people I know about things that happen in the USA and don’t necessarily, or directly, concern the rest of the world. It drives me to think I am not the only person with a wealth of knowledge about the USA that will possibly never see any use. Heck, I’ll go as far to say that it’s a global phenomenon. The USA is like this by design, and as of today, exactly 243 years of fascinating existence.
