An assortment of watercolour paintings at Zainul Galleries
Artists of Jolrup have organised their first group watercolour exhibition at Zainul Gallery 1 and 2, Faculty of Fine Art (FFA) University of Dhaka (DU). Ekushey Padak winner and eminent artist Samarjit Roy Choudhury will inaugurate the exhibition as chief guest at 11 am on July 8. Renowned artist Hamiduzzaman Khan and Ranjit Das will grace the occasion as special guests. Prominent artist Nisar Hossain, also the Dean of FFA, DU, will preside over the inaugural ceremony.
Alhough the nine artists of Jolrup work with watercolour, their subjects of depiction and treatment to the media are quite different. Swapan Mojumdar has portrayed the bucolic beauty of Bengal.
He has beautifully caught the light and shades of nature in his works. Ariful Islam has superbly depicted the cityscape of the old Panam city.
Hamim Ul Jihad Sajal has painted ships, cityscape, and abandoned objects in his work, while G M Azam has represented the electric poles and wires with apt light and shades.
Ziaur Rahman’s works evoke the beauty in the boats and rivers of Bengal.
Ishrat Zabin portrayed the beauty of women and flowers in her works, while Fatema Refat depicted the beauty of rural women.
The exhibition, running from 10 am to 8:30 pm daily, will continue until July 14.
