Fahad Al Alam’s ‘Debris of the Night’ at Shunno Art Space

Promising photographer Fahad Al Alam’s third solo exhibition titled, Debris of the Night, is underway at Shunno Art Space in Lalmatia.

Hosted and designed by Shunno Art Space, the exhibition features Fahad’s works that generate conversations about the technicalities and poetry of image-making, memories, time and decay.

Fahad is a self-taught photographer whose practices are based on vintage, out-of-date, analogue cameras and films. His passion for image-making comes through in the way that he mediates over long, arduous processes to build impressions of his surroundings. He works with expired, fungus-infested, hand-rolled and treated films and uses old, second-hand, collected cameras to create his images.

The hand-developed and manipulated images which he produces often appear ‘damaged’ or ‘washed out’, to reflect on the passage of time and the decay of the machineries that are designed to preserve our memories. Ultimately, matters that his images represent are not what he simply observes, but the impressions that they leave in time.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is Fahad’s artist talk, which will take place today. The show will remain open every day from 4 pm to 9 pm until August 10.
