Removal of animal wastes completed in 24hrs
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon today said that the city authorities have successfully completed cleaning up wastes of sacrificial animals within 24 hours.
Starting from 3:00pm, the workers have cleaned 16,000 metric tonnes of wastes on the day of Eid-ul-Azha, the DSCC mayor said at a press briefing in the capital’s Nagar Bhaban today.
They have cleaned the wastes of the cattle markets as well, he said.
Many people sacrifice animals on the second or third day of Eid, he said adding “We are expecting additional 5,000 tonnes of wastes in these two days which would be cleaned as early as possible”.
Last year, there were 14 cattle markets, but this year the number of cattle markets rose to 17 for which the total amount of wastes has increased to some extent, he said.
This year, a total of 9,500 cleaners have worked relentlessly to clean the city at the earliest possible time, he further said.
He also asked the city people to call the hotline number 09611000999 to get sacrificial animals’ waste cleaning service.
