The shooting for Kamar Ahmad Saimon’s Shikolbaha (Iron Steam) began recently. It took two years for the crew to establish the sets outside Dhaka for the much talked about film. They needed to plant many trees on the sets. The main shooting camp began six months earlier in Dhaka. Three new actors will be featured in the film, while a well-known actor will essay the role of a 94-year-old. 

Written and directed by Kamar Ahmad Simon and produced by Sara Afreen, Shikolbaha, which was initially titled Shongkhodhoni, is co-produced by Germany’s Wiedmann Bros. Variety Magazine selected Wiedmann Bros as one of the top ten producers to watch the film earlier this year at Cannes. Shikolbaha came under the limelight after it was selected as one of the ten scripts in 2014 at the La Fabrique Cinema du Mond, a platform for emerging filmmakers at Cannes. Afterwards, it was awarded with the prestigious World Cinema Fund from Berlin International Film Festival for two consecutive years. Director Kamar Ahmad Simon did not leave the shoot even on the day of Eid ul Adha. Before wrapping up Shikolbaha, producer Sara Afreen plans to release the film, Neel Mukut.
