‘Robber’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’
A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Pekua upazila of Cox’s Bazar in the wee hours of today.
The deceased was identified as Badsha Dakat, 33, a listed robber from Chanua union in Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram, Rab said in a press release.
On information that a gang of robbers was preparing for a robbery under Badsha’s leadership at Mognama Ghat, a team of Rab members rushed there, our staff correspondent reports quoting Rab official.
Sensing presence of the Rab men, the robbers opened fire. In retaliation, the elite force fired back triggering a gunfight between them, said Cox's Bazar Camp Company Commander of Rab-7 Major Md Mehedi Hasan.
At one stage, the robbers flee the scene leaving bullet-hit Badsha, the Rab official said.
Badsha was taken to Pekua Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead, he added.
The body was taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Rab has filed a case in this connection.
