Bangladeshi killed by BSF in Moulvibazar

A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by members of Border Security Force (BSF) of India in Uttar Dimai border area of Moulvibazar’s Barlekha upazila early yesterday.

Lt Colonel Faizur Rahman, commanding officer of 52nd BGB Battalion, confirmed the incident to The Daily Star.

The dead is Abdur Rouf, 37, of Kechrigul village in the upazila.

According to the BGB official, Rouf, along with some other men, intruded into India for smuggling cattle.

BSF members opened fire on the group when they were returning home. Rouf was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot, he added.
