Cultural icons honoured in Kishoreganj

Twenty-six cultural icons were honoured for their notable contributions to their respective fields in the last five years, at a programme held in Shilpakala Academy in Kishoreganj recently. Forhad Hossain, State Minister for Ministry of Public Administration, was present as the chief guest at the programme.

 Member of Parliament Rezwan Ahmed Towfiq, Kishoreganj Police Superintendent Md Mashrukur Rahman Khaled, civil surgeon Dr Md Habibur Rahman, District Awami League President Advocate Kamrul Ahsan Shahjahan and their Secretary Advocate MA Afzal, spoke on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj, Md Sarwar Morshed Chowdhury, presided over the event.

The cultural personalities were honoured with crests and certificates for their contributions in the fields of music, dance, dramatics, fine arts, photography, jatrashilpa and creative organiser, Tomal Bose, District Cultural Officer, informed The Daily Star. The awardees were: Md Abdul Hashem, Bijon Kumar Saha, Haris Mohammad, Manosh Kar and Mozammel Haque Khan Ratan (2018-2019), MM Jewel, Kajal Dev, Jahangir Alam Jahan, Dhanesh Pandit and Fatema Akter Ratna (2017-2018), MA Quaium, Shahiduzzaman Swapon, Syeda Monalisa Islam Shila, Foujia Jalil Nancy, Md Shamsuzzaman Selim and Nasir Uddin Faruqui (2016-2017), Bijon Kanti Das, Sabita Mahmud, Mrinal Kanti Dutta, Md Motalab Hossain and Asit Boron Basak Tapon (2015-2016), Amor Chandra Shil, Narayan Dev, Sudehndu Biswas and Md Abdus Sattar and Badhan Roy (2014-2015). Writer Jahangir Alam Jahan and Additional District Magistrate of Kishoreganj Md Zakir Hossain anchored the programme.
