No action taken against DSCC councilor for casino business: Khokon
Hailing the ongoing drive against the casino and illegal business, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon today said that he informed the local government ministry about one of his councilors’ casino business but no action was taken against him.
“I wrote to the local government ministry two months ago about irresponsible activities of one of my councilors, but I didn’t see any progress to this end,” Khokon told a questioner while addressing a press conference at his Nagar Bhaban office this noon.
Law enforcers started crackdown on the casino and illegal business from last Wednesday in line with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s zero tolerance policy against abuse of drug, extortion and militancy.
Soon after the drive, mass media have been flooded with a news of a DSCC councilor’s involvement in the casino business.
Responding to a query in this regard, Khokon said he earlier called upon club owners to refrain from such business even in the month of Ramadan, but they did not put any heed to the call.
“I hope that the crackdown will meet a successful end,” Khokon said adding that the drive will continue until the illegal business is uprooted out from the society.
