“Dream big, stay happy and keep smiling” - Sheena Chohan
A former Miss Universe participant, Sheena Chohan is on a journey to becoming a global star. Having finished shooting for award-winning American director Taron Lexton’s forthcoming film, Nomad, she looks forward to more ground-breaking projects. The diva had a candid conversation with The Daily Star, while on her latest trip to Bangladesh.
You came to host the programme, ‘Music for Peace’. How was the experience?
I was honoured to be asked to host Music For Peace on International Peace Day, by Gaan Bangla. The amount of work that they are doing to put Bangladeshi music on the global map is astounding. Musicians like Kailash Kher, Sivamani, Kaushik Hossain Taposh, Sanjay Das and Aditi Singh Sharma played in the event, which was a memorable one.
Could you tell us about your current projects?
We finished shooting for Taron Lexton’s upcoming Hollywood film, Nomad. I play a free-spirited traveller in the film, which is not unlike my actual personality (laughs). I also shot for a wonderful short film in London, called Taken for a Ride, which is already being sent to various film festivals around the world. When I go back to India, I will be working on a few web and episodic projects.
If you were given the chance to act with any actor and director in the world, who would they be?
I would love to work with Tom Cruise, since he is my absolute favourite. However, there are a few Bangladeshi directors that I want to work with. They are: Gias Uddin Selim, Redoan Rony and Tauquir Ahmed. I really admire their work, and there are already talks of working with Rony. I am really looking forward to it.
Do you have any message for your fans?
As a human rights ambassador for the UN, I would like to urge everyone to know their 30 human rights. They are very easy to access through www.humanrights.com. If you are an artist – dream big, stay happy and keep smiling – that is the most important factor in an artiste’s life.
