Timir Nandi’s five-decade musical journey

Shadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste Timir Nandi recently completed fifty years as a singer in the music industry. To mark the occasion, socio-cultural organisation Amra Surjamukhi arranged a programme at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) yesterday.

M Harun-Ar-Rashid, the Former Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army, Pijush Bandyopadhyay, renowned actor and Former Managing Director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), Sadya Afreen Mallick, renowned singer and media personality, attended the event as honourable guests. Shafiqul Islam Selim, Executive Director of Amra Surjamukhi, delivered the welcome address.

An album launching programme along with a live musical performance by Timir Nandi followed. Under the banner of Agniveena-G-Series, the album, Meghla Duchokh, was unveiled by the guests and the singer.   

Meghla Duchokh is an original adhunik album that contains 14 tracks including Duti Pakhi Mile Bandhey,Bhalobeshe Shobai Jodi, Amar Meghla Duchokh and Shudhu Mon Chhunye Jaye.

“My solo album came to the audio market after a long hiatus. I published my last album in 2009, marking the four decades of my musical career,” said Timir Nandi, who also composed all the tracks except one for Meghla Duchokh. “We recorded all the songs at Dhwani Studio, Kolkata. Buddhadev Ganguly, who was the assistant of legendary musician Salil Chowdhury, arranged the music for my album.”
