Another accused held in Abrar Fahad murder case
Law enforcers have arrested another accused in connection with the murder of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Abrar Fahad early today.
ASM Nazmus Sadat was held from Katla bazaar area in Birampur of Dinajpur around 3:30am, Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told reporters today.
With Nazmus’ arrest, so far 20 people have been held in connection with the murder of Abrar Fahad.
Nazmus, whose name was included in the FIR, was a 17th batch student of Mechanical Engineering Department at Buet.
Abrar, a second-year student of Buet’s electrical and electronic engineering department, was beaten to death by a group of BCL men at the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall during pm early October 7.
Later, his father filed a murder case against 19 Buet students, mostly BCL leaders of the Buet unit, and several other unnamed accused with Chawkbazar police station.
The gruesome murder triggered a firestorm of protest on university campuses across the country.
