RU student ‘commits suicide’

A student of Rajshahi University reportedly committed suicide at a mess located near the university campus this evening.

Deceased Md Firoz Kabir, son of Saju Miah of Gaibandha, was a third-year student of Applied Mathematics department, our RU correspondent reports quoting police and university sources.

Hafizur Rahaman, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station, said Firoz “committed suicide by hanged himself from a ceiling fan” at the mess name Raju Chhatrabas in Amzad intersection in Rajshahi city.

The body was being taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC said.

“We are looking into the matter to find out the reason behind the suicide,” he said.

On information, RU Proctor Prof Lutfar Rahman visited the spot.
