I think it was the best ball of the innings: Naim
Although Bangladesh lost their third of the three T20Is against India by 30 runs in Nagpur yesterday, Bangladesh opener Mohammad Naim put in a magnificent performance that had kept Bangladesh alive in the game even after the loss of two early wickets. Naim, who saw his stumps uprooted by a brilliant yorker from Shivam Dube in the 16th over after a magnificent 48-ball 81, talked to the reporters about his performance and more at the team hotel in Indore today. The topics that were brought up during the press briefing are given here in its entirety:
Any regret?
A lot. If we could win the game and the series then I would have felt much better. It is really disappointing that we did not win. If we had another good partnership then maybe we would have won.
About your style of batting?
It is not attacking style of play as I tried to pace my innings as per the target. I tried to play the way it was required.
On your missed opportunity to get a ton?
I think it was the best ball of the innings. And I did not play to score a century. I played to see the team win. I was not successful in that regard and I feel very bad for that.
What did you discuss with Mohammad Mithun?
We discussed that we two need to finish it off. Also that we do not look back and finish the game.
What about your debut [in Sunday's game]?
It felt good that we won the first match I played. It felt good because we won. I do not think about scoring more runs or scoring highest. I try to play and take it match by match.
What is your future plan?
I am not thinking about it right now. We have an emerging Asia Cup forthcoming and I am thinking about that.
Were the congratulations in order?
My teammates congratulated me and also a few of their [India] players congratulated me. Harbajan Singh was there and he said that if I could played two more overs then we would have won. He also said 'You played well, another partnership would have done it.'
