Chattogram City Corporation and Chattogram District Administration will cover treatment expenses of those who suffered injuries in a gas pipeline explosion in Patharghata of Chattogram city this morning.

Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation AJM Nasir Uddin and Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Elias Hossain announced it separately while visiting the spot where the explosion killed at least seven people and injured 15 others, reports our correspondent from the spot.

The city corporation will form a committee soon to investigate the matter, Mayor Nasir said.

The CCC and DC offices will jointly provide Tk 20,000 to the families of the deceased immediately, they said.

The district administration has already formed a five-member probe committee headed by Additional District Magistrate AZM Shariful Hossain in this regard and asked to submit the probe report in seven working days.

The officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station and representatives of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited, Chattogram City Corporation and Chattogram Development Authority are the other members of the committee.
