Delving Into Songs of The Soul
Emitting the essence of traditional folk music, the Dhaka International Folk Fest 2019 celebrated the diversity and vividness of folk culture and tradition as they merged borders. The melodious journey started with Samina Husain Prema and Bhabna dance troupe’s rhythmic folk dance, and headed towards South Asian folk genres such as Polli Geeti, Sufi, Baul and Qawwali, and was finally transmitted into the beats of Bhangra with Daler Mehndi. The music lovers also got the opportunity to dive into the enchanting melodies of Malian instrumentals, along with Sattuma’s neo-folk tracks. The festival concluded recently with Junoon’s all-time favourite “Sayonee”.
