Ety, Sana complete Bangladesh’s clean sweep in archery

14-year-old Ety Khatun, who along with Roman Sana yesterday had led the gold rush for Bangladesh as the red and greens clinched all six team events, won gold this morning in her individual event to add to the two medals she won at team events yesterday. Sana went on to win his individual event following Ety’s success to complete a historic clean sweep for Bangladesh as the archers won all the 10 events --both individual and team events – in the 13th South Asian Games at Pokhara today.

Ety won in the women’s recurve event, beating an opponent from Bhutan by 7-3 set points. Ety had yesterday won gold in the Recurve women’s team event and the Recurve mixed team event.

Sana completed the clean sweep by winning the men’s individual recurve final, beating opponent from Bhutan by 7-1 points.

Bangladesh had won all six team events yesterday and this morning Suma Biswash and Sohel Rana added to the gold tally to begin the day brightly. Ety followed in their tracks to make it nine before Sana completed the sweep.

Sana, archery’s poster-boy, who won two gold medals teaming up with Tamimul Islam and Hakim Ahmed in one and with Ety Khatun in another -- both team events – completed his tally, winning three out of three gold medals at the tournament. Along with Sana and Ety, Sohel Rana also bagged three golds at the tournament.
