4 railway staff suspended for cheating passengers
Bangladesh Railway has suspended Dinajpur Railway Station master and three booking assistants for cheating passengers for three consecutive days.
They showed that all tickets of December 3-5 have already been sold out, but the investigation team found that many tickets of those days remained unsold.
Ministry of Railways today issued a press statement in this regard.
They are Station Master Shankar Kumar Ganguli and Booking Assistances Abdul Al Mamun, Rezwan Siddique and Abdul Quddus.
Upon receiving allegations, Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan directed to carry out the investigation and a team, which conducted a secret investigation, found the allegation true.
The investigation team found that 1821 tickets out of total 2908 of December 3 to 6 were sold out and 1105 remained unsold.
People in local stations often fail to buy tickets online and from stations and have to resort to scalpers. In many cases, railway staff were involved with the scalpers.
