Biker killed in road crash while celebrating new year

A motorcyclist was killed and another injured in a road accident in Dhaka’s Badda area early today during new year’s celebration.

Deceased Md Nayan was an employee of a cable TV service provider while injured Md Sohel was a local businessman, said Md Parvez Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Badda Police Station.

Nayan received serious head injury as he did not use any helmet while riding the motorcycle, the OC said.

The police official also suspects that the duo was drunk. 

OC Pervez said the duo went out together around 10:00pm last night to celebrate new year 2020.

“As Nayan was driving the motorcycle recklessly, he lost control and the bike hit a road divider around 4:10am in Maddho Badda area,” he added.

Locals whisked them off to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors pronounced Nayan dead, OC Parvez said.

Nayan’s body was kept at the DMCH morgue.
