Execution won’t stop militancy: CTTC Chief Monirul
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner Monirul Islam today said that the participation of youths’ in the act of terrorism cannot be stopped by imposing fines, sending them to jails or by executing them unless their brains are cleaned.
“Extremism takes birth in brain and thus we will now attack on the youths’ brains to stop the terrorism,” Monirul, also chief of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP, said while addressing a workshop at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka.
Claiming that the law enforcement agencies cannot curb the menace of militancy and extremism alone, Monirul said the young generation has a big role to build a terrorism-free country from their part.
Underscoring the need for support from civil society members, teachers, religious leaders and cultural personalities, Monirul said the youths will not be misguided if the people of these respective quarters play their due roles in the society.
Darshak Shrota Pathak Foundation, in association with seven other organisations including Utsarga Foundation and the CTTC arranged the workshop titled “Tarunner Bangladesh,” where a number of youths from different district of the country took part.
