Curtain rises to the second edition of ‘Bangladesh Sangskritik Utshab 2020’ at BSA
With an aim to display the rich Bangladeshi culture, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has, for the second time, organised the Bangladesh Sangskritik Utshab 2020 at the Nandan Mancha of its premises in Dhaka. The 21-day festival was inaugurated recently.
Planning Minister M A Mannan attended the inaugural ceremony as chief guest while State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid inaugurated the festival at the National Theatre Hall Auditorium of BSA. Cultural Affairs Secretary Dr Md Abu Hena Mostafa also attended the occasion as special guest. Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky presided over the programme and BSA Secretary Md Badrul Anam Bhuiyan delivered the welcome address.
More than 5 thousand artistes from 64 districts, along with over a hundred cultural organisations, are participating in the festival. Each day will feature artistes from 3 districts, showcasing the vivid varieties of Bangladeshi culture.
The grand festival is featuring traditional folk games, folk-drama, solo and choral rendition of songs, instrumental music, jatrapala, Baul songs, solo and group dances, acrobatic show, puppet show, recitation and more. The festival also includes performances by differently-abled children, music and dance recitals on Bangabandhu and the Liberation War, performances by indigenous artistes and innovative choreography on drama.
The first edition of the festival was held in 2016. Since this year, BSA plans to organise this festival annually, mentions Liaquat Ali Lucky. “We have tried to include all the segments of culture in this festival. We have also planned to honour one prominent artiste from each district at the ongoing festival,” he said.
Artistes from Bhola, Sunamganj, and Jhenaidah are set to perform today. The festival is open for all from 3 pm to 9 pm, every day at BSA premises till January 23.
