Three fun online-shooter alternatives to share with your friends
Take Human: Fall Flat for example. It's a cooperative physics-based puzzle-platformer that explores how two or more humanoids would get things done if they did not have any bone structure whatsoever. Each limb has to be controlled individually, leading to both frustrating and hilarious moments where the arms end up grabbing something unwanted, namely your friend's behind. You can pick it up on Steam for $6.99.
Puzzles—not your thing? You still want something to shoot at? Well there is Risk of Rain 2, the 3D successor to the 2D classic multiplayer roguelike. It comes with a bunch of new environments for you to explore with up to four of your friends where you can fight off hordes of monster and finally, find a way to get of the planet. You can pick it up on Steam for $8.19.
As great as these game are however, their minimalist approach to graphics may be a let down for those who would like a little more detail to go with their adventures. For those there is No Man's Sky. Yes, that No Man's Sky. Ever since its disastrous launch in 2016, Hello Games has worked tirelessly to improve the game's vast but barren landscape, and added various new features and updates. There is now base building, vehicle exploration, large ship combat and most importantly, a fully functional multiplayer which allows players to share a universe, which still takes 5 Billion actual years to fully explore, thanks Sean Murray. It is still a full priced game though, so be prepared to shell out $60 if you want it.
