Publication ceremony of ‘Prithibi Shera Shomokaleen Kobider Kobita’ held
Eminent National Professor Anisuzzaman graced the event as the chief guest. “Back in the 80s, translating poems and novels was common, but now, few people take up such a task. I hope people like Aminur Rahman will continue their work,” he shared.
Renowned educationalist and writer Selina Hossain, Director General of Bangla Academy Habibullah Sirajee, poets Mohammad Nurul Huda, Jahidul Huq, Shihab Sarkar, Kamal Chowdhury and Muhammad Samad, along with Professor Fakrul Alam, were present as special guests.
“We need more enthusiasts who will translate Bengali poems to English and other languages for the world to acknowledge Bengali literature,” said Selina Hossain.
Argentinean poet Jona Burghardt and German poet Tobias Burghardt were present as special guests. Their works have been featured in the book. They both recited parts of their selected poems.
The event concluded with renowned reciter Hasan Arif and Tropa Majumdar reciting some of the poems from the book, which features the works of 35 poets from across the globe.
Swedish poet Bengt Berg, Slovakian poet Milan Richter, Moroccan poet Dr Benaissa Bouhmala and Taiwanese poets Dr Lee Kuei-shien and Miao-yi Tu, among others, have contributed to the book.
