Vandalism of temple: Barguna MP among 13 sued
Awami League lawmaker for Barguna-2 constituency Shawkat Hasanur Rahman Rimon and 12 others have been sued on charge of contempt of court in connection with vandalising a temple and grabbing land in Charduari area of Pathorghata upazila.
Priyanka Mitra filed the lawsuit with a Barguna court on Wednesday, our Patuakhali correspondent reports quoting the plaintiff's lawyer Advocate Arif Hossain.
The others accused are: Md Rakib Munsi, Md Monir Hossain, Shahin Munsi, Zahir, Zakir Biswash, Md Atiqur Rahman Labu, Md Maful, Md Alauddin Khan, Miraz, Mostafa, Raza and deputy assistant engineer of Water Development Board of Pathorghata upazila.
According to the case statement, Rimon along with a group of miscreants carried out an attack on the temple in a bid to dismantle it despite having a status quo issued by a local court in connection with a case.
“I file the contempt of court petition against them as they teared a photocopy of the status quo order when I project it before them,” Priyanka Mitra said in case statement.
While taking to the correspondent, Rimon said the plaintiff is engaged in hatching a conspiracy to grab land illegally.
