State Minister for Shipping Khaled Mahmud said today that the government would take immediate action if any incident of river grabbing is reported anywhere in the country.

“Combined efforts are needed to protect the rivers. The list of river grabbers has already been placed at the parliament and the government is working on it.”

He made the remarks at a meeting on river protection held at Araihajar Upazila Parishad conference room in Narayanganj organised by the River Protection Committee of Araihajar Upazila committee.  

The taskforce committee made by the government to protect rivers, is also working in this regard, he informed.

Calling upon people to work together in order to protect rivers, the state minister said, “If the rivers remain safe, we will remain safe.”
