The Young Tigers' World Cup triumph, the guarded approach from the Bangladesh Cricket Board following that historic result and, most importantly, the players' willingness to keep their feet on the ground -- all of these factors have created a positive vibe in the country's cricket.

It was nice to hear everybody emphasise on planning for the future so that today's heroes could prepare themselves for bigger challenges instead of only bubbling with emotion and euphoria.

As a custodian of Bangladesh cricket, Nazmul Hassan also rightly pointed out the importance of planning for the future so that highest number of players from this bunch could represent the national team in the future.

Hassan's motto of taking initiatives for these young players so that they can enhance their skills for a sustainable future career is appreciable but some may beg to differ with one of his observations, which he stated during a press conference on Wednesday in Mirpur.

The issue of the national team's performances were also broached while speaking about the success of the Bangladesh U-19 team and at one point, Hassan proudly said that he wanted to be 'Mr. Interferer' again in order to rescue the Tigers from the doldrums.

If we summarised the reasons behind the success of the U-19 team, which have been put forth by different sections after the victory in Potchefstroom, it was proper planning. Hassan himself did not hesitate to give credit to development committee chairman Khaled Mahmud for the vision and making their mission with successful.

It was probably a blessing for the U-19 team management that they were not under a similar spotlight to the senior team. That gave them the opportunity to work with freedom and without interference from the outside, allowing them to chalk out plans at will. We did not hear any one from outside from the team management talk about any technical issue, unlike what happens with the senior team.

"I asked Sujon [Khaled Mahmud] what he needed for the [U-19] team," Hassan said during Wednesday's press conference. Yes, as a board president it is always good to ask a concerned department and the experts employed within them what they need from the board, rather than interfering in technical issues like setting the batting order or making the decision about the toss.

Rather than go public with the national players' performances, he can ask the cricket operations committee where the problems lie with the national team at this moment? He can think about whether one of his very important committees -- which has been dealing with all the national team affairs -- has been working properly under the leadership of former national skipper Akram Khan in order to sort out the national team's problems.

Performing the role of "Mr. Interferer" probably would not help if the successful machinations of the Bangladesh U-19 team are an example for the honourable BCB president.

Hassan admitted that he was unaware of the coaching ability of many local coaching staff and their involvement with the U-19 side. It did not hinder the progress of the team because the team got what it needed from the BCB boss; assigning the right man at the helm and giving them all-out support. The national team also need exactly that, nothing else.
