Fugitive JMB militant held in Cumilla: Police

Police claimed to have arrested a fugitive militant of banned Islamist outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Debidwar upazila of Cumilla yesterday.

The arrestee, Habibur Rahman alias Habib, 37, was an active member of JMB and an accused of a case under Anti-Terrorist Act filed with Sadar Police Station in Nilphamari on May 1, 2016, a press release said today.

Acting on a tip off, a team of anti-terrorism unit of police arrested Habib in front of Chhotna Boro Mosque of Cumilla's Debidwar upazila around 3:00pm yesterday.

After primary interrogation, the accused was handed over to the investigation officer of Sadar Police Station in Nilphamari, added the press release.
