‘Can’t consider Khaleda’s release unless parole appeal filed’
Law Minister Anisul Huq today said the government can think about the issue of releasing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail on parole if an application is submitted to it through due legal process.
"There is no need to speak about this until an application is filed to this effect," he told reporters after attending a meeting organised by International Center for Not-For-Profit Law (ICNL) as the chief guest at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka.
"There is a specific law about the release of a person from jail on parole. It has been said in the law where the application will have to be filed. A legal process needs to be followed if her [Khaleda's] release on parole is dealt with professionally," the minister added.
