Tarafder decides to withdraw from upcoming BFF polls
Tarafder Ruhul Amin, secretary general of Bangladesh District and divisional football association, today declared that he would not compete in the upcoming BFF polls as a president.
"BDDFA and Club association had nominated me to compete in 2020 BFF elections as the president but I have withdrawn myself from the elections to avoid the unhealthy environment in football since the incumbent president, who had previously announced in previous elections that he would not further compete for the role of president, once again announced his candidacy the fourth term," Amin said at a press Conference today.
Kazi Salahuddin was re-elected for the third consecutive term as the president of the Bangladesh Football Federation in April 30, 2016. During the last election, he had announced that he would not be taking part in the upcoming polls. Ruhul Amin, a businessman-turned-football organizer, made many investments in football since the last elections. He sponsored the BFF's Premier League and provided financial assistance to District Football Associations (DFA) to revive district football. He was the front-runner in the upcoming polls.
