Six killed in Tangail road accident
Six passengers of a CNG-run three-wheeler were killed when a truck rammed into it at Mirzapur upazila of Tangail this morning.
The deceased were identified as Hridoy Miah, 18, of Beltoil village; Sonam Uddin, 60, Mohammad Mashraful, 8, Jakir Hossain, 40, Hafiz Uddin, 60, and his daughter Renu Akter, 25, of Kuratoly village in the upazila.
The accident took place at Beltoil area on Gorai-Sakhipur Road around 10:30am when an earth-laden truck hit the three-wheeler, leaving two of its passengers dead on the spot and injuring five others, our Tangail correspondent reports, quoting police.
One of the injured died on the way to Kumudini Hospital and three others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, said Rafiqul Islam, a sub-inspector of Deohata Police Outpost.
After hitting the three-wheeler, the truck also rammed into a private car, injuring its driver, the police official added.
Police seized the truck, but its driver and helper managed to flee, said Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirzapur Police Station.
