Army starts patrolling in Narayanganj
Bangladesh Army has started patrolling in Narayanganj to support the district administration to ensure social distancing and implementation of other precautionary measures to curb coronavirus transmission.
Army personnel started their patrolling from the deputy commissioner's (DC) office from this afternoon, our district correspondent reports quoting administration officials.
Before that a meeting between district administration and army officials was held at the DC office.
Army is assigned to assist the district administration in taking some measures including compelling the expatriates to follow the 14-day home quarantine and preventing the artificial food crisis by hoarding, said Jasim Uddin, deputy commissioner of the district.
Army has been deployed in each of the five upazilas of the district while the team, deployed in Sadar upazila, will also looks after the Narayanganj city, the DC said.
