BRACU Department of Pharmacy manufactures handrubs
In order to fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the Department of Pharmacy, Brac University (BRACU) and BRAC University Pharma Society (BUPS) have been preparing alcohol-based handrubs. This initiative will allow people to take preventive measures for containing the spread of the disease.
Patients with diabetes, especially those above the age of 60, are among the groups most at risk for severe complications if they contract the COVID-19 disease. Diabetes and high glucose levels are associated with increased complications like respiratory failure and mortality in hospitalised patients with COVID-19. To minimise the risk of these complications, Department of Pharmacy of BRACU and BUPS provided more than 300 bottles of handrub on March 21, 2020 to the Department of Endocrinology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) to be distributed among diabetic patients.
