A case was filed in connection with the rape of a fifteen-year-old girl in Bagerhat's Sadar upazila last night.

Yesterday night, the girl's mother filed a case with Bagerhat Model Police Station accusing one Hafizur Rahman (45), our Bagerhat correspondent reports quoting officer-in-charge of the police station Mahtab Uddin.

The girl has been sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital today for medical examination.

The victim's mother recounted the incident to The Daily Star: "My husband left home around 8:00am yesterday for work. I, too, went out of the house to buy rice. When I returned home, I saw Hafizur Rahman running out of my house. After entering the house, my girl informed me that the man raped her. I immediately reported the matter to the local public representatives, neighbours and police. I demand punishment of Hafizur.''

Police officials have visited the spot and are on the lookout for Hafizur.
