‘Frankenstein’ and ‘Anthony & Cleopatra’ streaming for free on YouTube

The National Theatre in London recently announced that live recordings of Danny Boyle's Frankenstein and Shakespeare's Antony & Cleopatra, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Ralph Fiennes, respectively, will be available to stream as part of the National Theatre at Home series.

Two versions of Frankenstein, filmed live at the National Theatre, starring Jonny Lee Miller and Cumberbatch alternating between the roles of Victor Frankenstein and his creation, started streaming on the National Theatre's YouTube channel on April 30.

Meanwhile, Antony & Cleopatra, which also stars Sophie Okonedo, will be available from May 7. Both productions will be available to stream for a seven-day period.

The National Theatre at Home initiative was launched in late March as a response to the novel coronavirus pandemic that has forced the closure of theatres and cinemas. The effort debuted with James Corden in Richard Bean's One Man, Two Guvnors, which drew over 2.5 million views during its seven-day window.

In the coming weeks, further productions in the National Theatre at Home series will be announced.
