Railways may resume operation on limited scale from May 31: minister
If the government decides to operate public transport on limited scale, then Bangladesh Railway will resume limited operations from May 31, Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan told The Daily Star tonight.
"However, the final decision in this regard will be known tomorrow [Thursday] when the gazette is published," he said.
"Through media, at first I came to know from state minister [of public administration ministry] that public transport would remain suspended even after May 30, but later [through media] I came to know that operation of public transport would resume on a limited scale after May 30.
"In that case we will operate trains on limited scale," the minister said.
Operation of rail has remained suspended since March 24, two days before the government closed down most of the public and private offices, to contain spread of Covid-19 in the country.
