Intercity trains to operate on limited scale from May 31
Bangladesh Railway will resume operations of intercity train services on a limited scale from May 31.
Md Shamsuzzaman, director general of Bangladesh Railway, told The Daily Star tonight that they would resume operation of only intercity trains on a limited scale.
"The number of trains would be very small and we would sell 50 percent tickets of each train to ensure social distancing," he said.
The number of trains would be fixed on Saturday. No AC coach would come into operations as per the guidelines of the Directorate General of Health Services, he added.
The train service was suspended from March 24, two days before the government shut down most of the public and private offices and transports to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
