Law enforcers detained five persons including a central leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami with around Tk 1.5 crore in Banasree area of Dhaka this evening.

Of the detainees, one is identified as Gias Uddin, accountant of Jamaat, Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam of Rampura Police Station, told The Daily Star.

On secret information, police carried out a drive on the second floor of a house in Banasree area around 3:30pm and detained Gias and four others, the OC said.

Around Tk 1.5 crore was also recovered from the house, which has been using as an office of Jamaat, the police official added.
