BANGABANDHU OVERWHELMED WITH JOY
Boundless joy overwhelms Prime Minister Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as he sees the manuscript of the 153-article constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh bearing the monogram of the national flower 'shapla' in Dhaka today. A team of six artists led by renowned artist Zainul Abedin took three months to complete the writing, designing and drawing representing our national life and culture in the constitution -- both in Bangla and English.
Bangabandhu appreciates the work done by the artists that reflect common rural, riverine scene of Bangladesh on the historic document which is 16 inches by 12 inches in size.
BASINS OF MAJOR RIVERS TO BE DEVELOPED
The India-Bangladesh Joint Rivers Commission (JRC) has decided to go for the development of major river basins common to both the countries. The JRC is now considering the framework for preparation of such long-term plans. The commission has requested both the governments of Bangladesh and India to share with each other the data relating to flood control and water resources development projects and also of future programmes for taking coordinated action.
JAPAN KEEN TO BUILD BRIDGE OVER JAMUNA
The Ambassador of Japan in Bangladesh Takash Yamuda discloses today that his government is keen to help Bangladesh government in building of a bridge over the river Jamuna. The ambassador presents to Bangladesh Communication Minister M Mansoor Ali the survey report conducted by a six-member Japanese team of experts on the rehabilitation, modernisation and long-term development projects of Bangladesh Railway. The Japanese team suggests measures for safe transportation of passengers and cargoes in its report.
MONI SINGH CALLS ON PM
Moni Singh, leader of the Communist Party of Bangladesh, calls on Prime Minister Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Gono Bhaban today. They discuss various national and international issues.
